Are the play-offs fair? That’s one which typically comes around. This year it is Sheffield United some believe should be awarded automatic promotion, having finished 14 points clear of the next best team in the Championship, Sunderland, who they will now face at Wembley next Saturday in the play-off final.

Another discussion point usually centres around promotion and relegation between League Two and the National League Premier. Only this year it can be heard a little louder, after the National League launched its 3UP campaign, aimed at getting the number of promotion and relegation spots between the EFL and non-league increased from the current two to three next season.

The majority of supporters are believed to back it. A survey carried out by the Football Supporters’ Association earlier this year found more than 90 per cent were in favour.
