Trailing 3-1 from the first leg, Villa were 5-1 down before Youri Tielemans pulled one back.
Villa fired out of the blocks, as John McGinn and Ezri Konsa put them within a goal of extra time.
But they couldn't find that elusive goal and bowed out of the competition.
