Jellis, who has scored five goals in 24 games across all competitions this term, has missed the past three games with a calf injury.

The 23-year-old limped off during Walsall's 4-0 defeat against Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup second round last month and Sadler revealed he has been careful with easing him back into the fold.

However, Jellis was involved in training at Essington on Thursday and is expected to be available for selection on the weekend.

Sadler revealed: "Jamie is ready and in contention to play so that's really good. He trained today.

"He would've played anyway (with the injury). Every game, every minute. So we have to settle him down a little bit to make sure that he's out for one or two games rather than a lot longer than that."

"We've got competition for places so everyone wants to play and not only competition for places but everyone wants to put their mark on things and contribute.

"That's really healthy for sure and long may that continue but sometimes it's making sure that I look at the bigger picture rather than the next game.

"That's definitely been the case with Jamie. Sometimes you can't avoid things still even by doing it like that but you just try to do the best you can to keep them fit for the entirety."
