British Superbike star Dan Linfoot has agreed to join Black Country-based Bathams Racing for the rest of the 2020 campaign.

Linfoot with join Brierley Hill-born team manager Michael Rutter for round three of the National Superstock 1000 championship.

Rutter, who also plans to competing in the occasional superstock round as part of a two-rider team, was forced to make look elsewhere for team-mate after Richard Cooper crashed out in round one on his debut for Bathams Racing, badly breaking his leg.

Cooper, the reigning superstock 1000 champion, will miss the rest of the campaign and his injury forced the entire team to pull out of round two.

But with Linfoot now on board for the rest of the 2020 campaign, Bathams Racing will back competing at Silverstone with the rest of the BSB series this weekend.

Linfoot joins from the Santander TAG race team, which has opted to take a sabbatical from the superbike class for the remainder of the season.

It means he remains a member of the Santander TAG team, joining Bathams Racing on loan.

Rutter said: “We've had a really difficult start to the 2020 season, and making the decision to not go racing at Snetterton just went against every instinct we have at Bathams Racing – we want to race.

"So it's fantastic for everyone at the team and all our sponsors and fans that we have been lucky enough to find a rider of Dan's quality and experience to fill Richard's seat for the rest of the season.

"I really must say a huge thank you to Gary Winfield at TAG Racing for letting Dan race with us while still part of his team.

"It means we can not only get back on track, but also be competitive.

"Personally, I'm going to give Silverstone a miss. It's important that Dan gets the full undivided attention of the team and all our resources for his first race with us."

Linfoot added: "It goes without saying that along with everyone else I wish Coopes a speedy recovery and hope he gets back racing soon.

"In the meantime, I'm really looking forward to jumping on his bike and racing in the superstock 1000 class.

"The Bathams bikes are always competitive, so it's a good opportunity for me to race closer to the front again and enjoy myself.

"Thanks to Michael and the team for the opportunity, and especially thanks to Gary at TAG for letting me take it "
