The Dudley-based women’s world champion and world number one-ranked female player has been selected to take part in the qualifying tournament to earn a place in the sport’s top competition.

She is one of three women to be given the opportunity to compete for a place in the showpiece tournament.

To get there, Evans must win up to four matches in the qualifying tournament, where she will come up against players ranked in the top 50 of world snooker as well as other elite amateurs hoping to qualify for Sheffield.

The qualifiers take place at the English Institute for Sport from April 8-15. The finals begin on April 18 running until May 4.

Evans has won the women’s Word Championship a record 12 times. She narrowly missed out on reaching the Crucible in 2017 after losing in the qualifying event’s first round.

Last year’s World Championship was won by Judd Trump, his first Crucible title. He beat John Higgins 18-9 in the final.
