The Halesowen tennis ace returned to Grand Slam winning ways last month by claiming the Australian Open doubles title and added two more trophies to her packed cabinet this weekend.

She won the north west singles title for the third time in her career after victories in 2015 and 2016 by seeing off China’s Hui Min Huang 6-3, 6-1.

And Whiley, 27, who returned to tennis last year following the birth of her first son Jackson, also landed the doubles crown by teaming up with fellow Brit Lucy Shuker to beat Katharina Kruger, of Germany, and America’s Dana Mathewson 6-4, 6-1.

Brit pairing Dermot Bailey and Gordon Reid were beaten in the men’s double final by Martin de la Puente and Stefan Olsson 6-3, 6-2.

Reid also lost out to Swede Olsson in the singles, 6-2, 6-3.

Whiley, who won her third Australian Open title and 10th doubles slam, claimed a bronze medal at the Rio Paralympics and is targeting better should she seal qualification to this year’s event in Japan.
