Matt Neal twice narrowly missed out on a podium finish as the British Touring Car Championship visited Yorkshire.

Neal, from Stourbridge, improved on his 10th-placed finish in race one at Croft by securing fourth and fifth-placed finishes in the remaining heats.

He was just over a second short of a podium in race two, where Halfords Yuasa Racing team-mate Dan Cammish edged third.

Andrew Jordan was the big winner in north Yorkshire, winning races one and two, and Tom Chilton claimed the final victory. He backed up a similar double from the previous meeting at Thruxton. Black Country speedster Neal is fifth in the drivers’ championship after being leapfrogged by two-race winner Jordan.

The Championship is next in action for rounds 13, 14 and 15 on June 29 and 30 at Oulton Park in Cheshire.

BMW star Jordan, born in Sutton Coldfield, said: “I couldn’t have asked for more. It was pretty much perfect. I was overwhelmed after winning race two, because to get two double-wins in successive events is something that almost never happens.”
