Cannock Leisure Centre has been chosen to stage the qualifiers for the China Open, one of the biggest events in the sport.

Matches will take place between February 18 and 20 with 120 players hoping to progress to the tournament which will be held in Beijing in April.

Tickets for the day cost £5 and offer the chance to see many of the world’s top players cue up to take their shot at the title. Competitors in last year’s tournament included defending champion, three time world champion and current world number one, Mark Selby and Ronnie O’Sullivan.

It will be the first time a professional snooker tournament has been hosted in Staffordshire. The venue will hold 400 spectators and tickets will be available on 01543 578850 between 8am and 2pm each day.

The full line-up will be released later this month.
