Having participated in the British Championships every year since 2010, this will be the Wednesbury tumbler’s first year as a senior at the age of 17, and he will arrive at the competition next weekend as the 2018 individual and team European champion after success in Azerbaijan.

“This is something I’ve always dreamed of doing since I first competed for Team GB at the age of 11,” the teenager said. “My aims for the future are to be selected for my first senior world championships and to have the opportunity to compete alongside the best of the best and the athletes I have aspired to be like growing up.”

This year has seen the British Championships make the switch to the West Midlands, where they will take place at Arena Birmingham on September 22 and 23.

“It is definitely one of my favourite competitions as the vibe in the arena is always buzzing.

“It is always an important competition that is very close to my heart and with it being close to home this year, it gives me the extra drive to succeed.”

This competition also doubles as qualification for the World and World Age Group Championships in Russia later this year, which provides Jaydon with extra incentive to perform.

“As this is my first year of senior, it is more for the experience of the new competition environment,” he added. “However, the initial aim of the weekend is to make the senior team for the World Championships in November.”
