We are not saying they are true – just that they're out there.

Aston Villa

Stoke City are close to completing a permanent deal for on loan Villa midfielder Stephen Ireland.

Former Villa forward John Carew has recommended his old club sign Norwegian midfielder Stefan Marius Johansen. The 23-year-old, who plays for Stromsgodset, has been described as a 'Duracell rabbit with tekkers' by Carew. The midfield man could be available for around £2 million.

West Brom

Hull City boss Steve Bruce has apologised to West Brom over the rumours regarding a bid for Albion striker Shane Long. Bruce has denied his interest in the forward who has been attracting a hoard of interest. Yesterday, however, Long's wife Kayleah ruled out any departure on behalf of her husband.

Albion youngster Kemar Roofe has extended his loan deal at Cheltenham Town.

Elsewhere, former Albion defender Abdoulaye Meite has signed for Championship side Doncaster Rovers on a short-term deal

Walsall

Richard O'Donnell signed a new contract with the Saddlers last night, committing himself to the Banks's until 2015. His previous deal was due to expire at the end of this season.
