Shireland School Alliance

A partnership of like-minded leading secondary schools and primary schools in the West Midlands.

With assistance from a number of strategic partners including the University of Warwick, Microsoft and Whole Education, the Shireland Teaching School Alliance provides the capacity and expertise to deliver excellence across the Teaching Schools' Agenda.

Their aims are to recruit the very best trainees for their schools, working alongside their partners to deliver teacher training of the highest quality and equipping them with the tools to become outstanding teachers.

Shireland Collegiate Academy is an Alliance led school in the West Midlands, with over 1,100 pupils and located in an area of substantial deprivation. Despite this, the Academy has successfully closed the attainment gap between students at the school and has been rated as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.

With a wide range of opportunities, extracurricular activities and facilities available to further pupil development, Shireland Collegiate Academy has widely benefited from its ties to the Teaching School Alliance.

Shireland TSA also provides School Direct, a school-led teacher training course that gives a one year school based programme. With assistance from the University of Warwick, this scheme allows you to be part of the teaching team from day one. The postgraduate programme leads to a Qualified Teacher Status and a full PGCE to teach children aged 5-11, as well as 60 Masters Credits.

It also provides preparation for the practical demands of teaching, allowing you to learn from experienced teachers and immediately put your new skills into practice.
