In video: ISS captures amazing aurora australis

The southern counterpart of the Northern Lights was filmed by the ISS and described by astronaut Jack Fischer as a “burrito of awesomeness”.

The Aurora Australis captured from the International Space Station

The International Space Station captured this incredible footage of the aurora australis, the southern counterpart of the Northern Lights.

The ISS was travelling at 17,500mph, 250 miles above the Earth’s surface.

Astronaut Jack Fischer tweeted the video which he described as a “burrito of awesomeness smothered in awesome sauce”.
