No tweeting for Angela Merkel – but she does check Trump on Twitter
The German chancellor says she occasionally visits the site to see what the United States president has to say.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said she does not really do Twitter, but sometimes visits the site to check out what US President Donald Trump has to say.
The chancellor said during a talk with two journalists from German women’s magazine Brigitte: “I do not tweet.”
However, Mrs Merkel added that she does look on Twitter – especially when she is interested in a specific topic.
Mrs Merkel said: “I use it sometimes … then I enter Donald Trump on Twitter and I have it all” – a remark that drew big laughs from the audience at a Berlin theatre where the chancellor was interviewed.
She added that she does not need to see every one of the prolific president’s tweets herself because media outlets are doing a good job reporting on his newsworthy ones.
