Woman ‘locked her children in car boot’ while she shopped

A woman has been arrested after she allegedly locked her two young children in the boot of her car while she went inside a Wal-Mart store to shop.

Police in Riverdale, Utah, in the US, say witnesses heard the children, aged two and five, making a noise and saw the car shaking.

They got the older child to pull the emergency latch and called for help.

Tori Lee Castillo, 39, is in custody on suspicion of child abuse after being arrested Thursday when she returned to the car.

Police said welfare services were contacted and the children were turned over to a responsible party.
