I am writing in support of the J W Hunt Cup competition following the article by Matt Maher. This competition has helped to support the Beacon Centre For The Blind in Wolverhampton, the final usually played at the Wolves for over 60 years, raising £360,000 so far.

I know Alex Hamil has devoted his life to this charity together with the committee, past and present players, and referees, namely the late Jack Taylor, Derek Enefer and many more.

I’ve given my support to this cup for the past 12 years since my late brother Derek sadly passed away. They are a dedicated loyal bunch of people doing so much work for the local blind.

I am appealing to all you dedicated footballers, fans and Wulfrunians interested in the survival of the Hunt Cup to please contribute whatever you can, however small (they need to raise at least £10,000) by cheque made payable to J W Hunt Cup to 91 Birches Road, Codsall, WV8 2JJ. All contributions will be gratefully received and the cup committee will acknowledge them in due course, thank you.

Sylvia Enefer-Round, Codsall
