I live on my own in a bungalow. It’s very quiet. I have been on my own for three and a half years, since I lost the wife.
We had been married 55 years and I have a son and four daughters who phone me every day, and the one daughter lives in the next street. She brings me a lunch every day.
I go to the ring and ride and hire a scooter in Wolverhampton. At least it gets me out for a while.
I have got two dogs, a staffie and a yorkie, but like me they are getting old. I love them to bits. It’s at night time when I feel the most lonely, between 7pm, and 10pm.
Unless they have experienced this feeling, people think it isn’t a big issue. Loneliness is terrible.
I know other people could be in the same way as me and I bet they feel the same. I cannot walk far as I use two walking sticks.
What I miss most is having someone to visit me for a little chat. If anyone is in the same boat as me I feel very sorry for them.
All of my old friends have either passed away or moved away from the area.
