LETTER: Sneaky move over pennies
The sneaky phasing out of the 1p and the 2p, is, in fact, another price increase on low-value goods, and a rounding up of many food items.

Of course, we will get the same garbled gobbledygook that we had in decimalisation when overnight we lost 40 pence in the pound and out came the rubbish that some companies would round down and others round up, as if any company would cut its profits so its competitor would make more.
But this is what governments take us for, and, let’s be honest, when you look at what we voted to represent us you can see why they think we are a bunch of suckers.
