Wolverhampton transport 'masterplan' is anything but

Under the huge headline ‘Delays to train and tram works’ the article tells how the works ‘form part of a multi-million pound masterplan to transform transport in the city’.

Masterplan? Someone has a sense of humour at least. Bringing the trams off the railways bed and onto Bilston Road was a terrible idea.

Other great examples of ‘planning’ are to be found in Wolverhampton.

The A449 between Wobaston Road and the M54 is being ‘improved’ taking forever to get something like right - if ever.

Wednesfield Road meets Deans Road and branches off to who knows where with a very strange layout and traffic lights.

Total absence of any planning is to be seen at the Nechells Lane, Willenhall Road and Moseley Road junction.

However, the ‘planners’ have created the classic starting grid junction - two lanes at the approach from Moseley Road which quickly narrows to only one lane on the far side.

Neachells Lane should have been upgraded to properly service Strawberry Lane, Manfield Road, Planetary Road and then Wednesfield Way and all the businesses there.

These ‘planners’ have letters after their names - and many drivers could no doubt think of other letters to add to them.
