Words worthless in face of terror

Yet again terrorists strike, and yet again the headlines are the same as last time, and the time before, and the time before that, and so it goes on – this must be done, that must be done – but nothing gets done that appears to make any difference.

Of course I am well aware of the great work our police and surveillance services do in knowing who and where these terrorists live, but only allowing them to watch is not enough.

As usual the Prime Minister, the Home Secretary, the leader of the opposition, and every other Tom, Dick, Harry and Mabel are quick to step forward with comments they feel will get public notice and maybe earn a few votes in the future, but words are worthless in the ears of the scum who carry out these atrocities.

The fact is that for many years now our country has been led by people who have taken too much notice of the cowardly liberalised ‘bleeding heart’ brigade, our prisons for example are clearly indicative of this, and I know for certain that during my two years National Service with no TVs, hot water, discipline meant discipline.

The views expressed in the comment column of the E&S (May 24) are absolutely spot on, and they end by demanding that the public need to see a new stronger approach to the terrorist threat.

It is now painfully obvious that our laws and beliefs are completely out-dated, and if we have to lower our standards to protect our communities and future, we must be prepared to meet these mad men on their terms, and remove the shackles from our police and security services to act accordingly.
