Express & Star comment: Boy’s gesture was very sweet touch

As the Brexit row rumbles on, it is easy to forget that there are plenty of good things going on in the communities of the Black Country and Staffordshire.

A little hero - Joey James

Take little Joey-James Rowley, for example, a four-year-old with a heart of gold who decided to take action after he found out that emergency services staff have to work on Christmas Day.

After asking his mum if they could buy some chocolates for local police officers, paramedics and firefighters, Joey-James went around their places of work to deliver the treats personally.

It was a lovely touch, and it is fantastic to see someone so young providing the milk of human kindness as we approach Christmas.

We should all be proud that such thoughtful and caring people call this region their home.

All of the hard-working emergency services workers in the West Midlands deserve our support.

Here's to Joey-James having a fantastic festive period. Hopefully Santa brings him everything on his Christmas list.
