Man arrested on suspicion of murder of one-year-old boy

The child was taken to hospital with head injuries from an address in Liverpool on Friday, police said.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a one-year-old boy.

Merseyside Police said the boy was admitted to hospital from an address in Speke, Liverpool, on Friday.

Officers were alerted to concerns for the child by the ambulance service at 6pm.

The boy was taken to hospital from the house on Belsford Way after suffering a head injury but has since passed away, a force spokesman said.

A 23-year-old man from Winsford, Cheshire, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to a police station for questioning.

A Home Office post mortem is due to take place today.
