A man has died after being rescued from a marina in south Wales.

Police said the 32-year-old man and a woman, 35, were pulled from Penarth marina in the Vale of Glamorgan by the coastguard and fire service shortly after 10pm on Friday.

They were both taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, but the man, from Penarth, died a short time later.

The woman, who was also from Penarth, was released from hospital with no injuries.

South Wales Police said the man’s next of kin have been informed.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious, however officers would urge anyone who may have seen the couple walking in the vicinity of the marina at around 10pm to contact us,” the spokesman added.
