Two men have been charged with the murder of a holidaymaker who died in Turkey a day after he sustained head injuries at a pub in Lancashire.

Simon Marx, 42, died in Fethiye in the Aegean region of the country on October 8 last year.

A post-mortem examination established he died from a blunt head trauma.

Detectives believe Mr Marx suffered the injury in an altercation at the Newton Arms in Staining Road, Blackpool, at about 12.20am on Saturday October 7.

Lane has also been charged with wounding with intent in relation to a second person who was also injured at the Newton Arms.

Both men will appear from custody at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

A third man arrested, a 29-year-old from Blackpool, has been released without charge.

Police added that following a public appeal they have identified a potential witness who was captured on CCTV at Winstons Bar in Blackpool and may have spoken to Mr Marx at about 1am on October 7.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Willis, of Blackpool police, said: “I would like to thank the public for their assistance with our investigation so far but also urge anyone who still has information which could help to please come forward.”

Anybody with information should phone 101, quoting log number 40 of October 7th.
