Liverpool FC player Jon Flanagan is due to be sentenced after admitting assaulting his girlfriend.

The 25-year-old will appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday afternoon to be sentenced for the common assault by beating of Rachael Wall.

He admitted the charge at a hearing earlier this month, when the court heard he had kicked his partner in a prolonged assault on Duke Street in Liverpool city centre at around 3.20am on Friday December 22.

District Judge Wendy Lloyd adjourned the sentencing for a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the Probation Service.

She gave Flanagan unconditional bail and told him he would face a community penalty.

Liverpool-born Flanagan has made more than 50 first-team appearances for Liverpool since making his debut aged 18.
