The smash, which involved a barrier on the motorway, took place at the M6 northbound link road to the M5 southbound.

The route, between Junction 7 for Great Barr and Junction 8 for Rayhall on the M6, was closed from 8pm last night as emergency services and the highways team made the road safe.

The link road re-opened six hours later at 2am this morning.
