M5 tailbacks as motorway closed after lorry sheds metal load
The M5 was closed for around three hours after a lorry shed metal debris across lanes in the Black Country.
All lanes between Junction 2 for Oldbury and Junction 1 for West Bromwich were closed northbound after the incident.
The entry slip road at Junction 2 was also closed with three miles of congestion backing up to Junction 3 for Quinton.
A diversion was in place moving traffic along the A4034 north towards Oldbury, with motorists advised to follow signs taken them off the motorway to the Birchley Island, and then back onto the M5 at Junction 1.
Traffic built up along these lanes and backed up towards the M5 link with the M6 at Junction 8.
Traffic officers worked to clear the debris and re-opened the motorway at around 9.30am.
