Three out of four northbound lanes were blocked after the crash happened next to Junction 10 of the motorway at around 7.20am.

Nobody is believed to have been injured and West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it was not sent to the scene.

Delays stretched back to Junction 6 for the A38 as average speeds dropped to 9mph on the approach to Junction 10 while the scene was cleared.

Lanes two and three were reopened at around 8am but lane four was closed for a further 45 minutes while barriers were repaired.

Highways England said drivers faced delays of 40 minutes while the lane was shut.
