Man killed after being hit by lorry on M6

A man has died after being hit by a lorry on the M6 in Staffordshire.

Emergency services were called to the crash on the motorway on Thursday morning.

It happened on the northbound stretch between Junction 15 and Junction 16.

A man aged in his mid-30s was pronounced dead at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “When ambulance staff arrived they found a male pedestrian, the driver of a stationary vehicle, who was seriously injured and in cardiac arrest.

"The team worked together to commence advanced life support at the roadside.

"Sadly, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead a short time later."

The man was parked on the hard-shoulder of the carriageway.

The M6 motorway northbound was closed following the crash the lanes had reopened by 11.30am.

Long tailbacks formed miles back to Stafford after the crash, with traffic queuing back towards Junction 14 near Stafford.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to contact 101, quoting incident number 83 of September.
