Rush-hour delays after M6 crash near Walsall

Drivers faced long rush-hour delays after a crash on the M6 this evening.

The northbound carriageway was completely blocked between Junction 9 for Wednesbury and Junction 10 for Walsall for around 20 minutes after the smash.

A car and a lorry were involved in the collision at about 5.30pm.

Three of the four lanes were initially closed but Highways England soon confirmed the whole carriageway was blocked.

Delays reached up to 90 minutes until traffic was released at around 5.50pm.

One lane remained closed while recovery vehicles headed to the crash and at 6.30pm delays of around 45 minutes remained.

The road was cleared and back open as normal by 6.50pm.
