Three vehicles were involved in the smash, which happened at around 8.45am this morning on the A5 between Junction 7 of the M54 and Preston Island.

Traffic has been queuing back along the M54 past Telford as a result.

Laura Rainbow, of West Mercia Police, said: "There is not thought to be any serious injuries and there is some debris in the road.

"Arrangements are being made with Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service to remove a vehicle from the carriageway.

"Traffic is backed up in the area, and Highways are currently managing the road."

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and use the B5061 if possible.

The incident is still ongoing.

Meanwhile rail passengers were facing major disruption across the county due to Arriva Trains Wales pulling services for urgent safety checks.
