Long M54 delays as two injured in crash near Cosford

A two-car crash on the M54 left two people injured and caused long delays on Saturday evening.

Those involved had to be cut out of their cars after the collision, which happened between Junction 2 for Wolverhampton and Junction 3 for Cosford just before 8.30pm.

Two fire crews were sent from Wellington and paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service were on the scene and both westbound lanes were blocked as a result.

Both westbound lanes were closed as well as one eastbound

One eastbound lane was also shut for around 30 minutes while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Two casualties were left in the care of the ambulance service while fire crews made the area safe.

One lane was back open in both directions by 9.35pm and both eastbound lanes were running as normal soon after.

The motorway was back fully open by 10.15pm.
