The accident led to a stretch of the dual carriageway road near Willenhall being closed by police.

The rider was taken to hospital suffering from a broken ankle.

Fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene near junction 10 of the M6.

Willenhall watch commander, John Elsworth, said: "When we arrived the road was still open, so we lent a hand and provided medical assistance.

"More paramedics arrived and quickly realised that he had broken his ankle and he was taken to hospital. Considering the crash he was extremely lucky to only receive that injury.

"We stayed on scene till around 1.15pm to wait for the recovery of the motorbike, because it was leaking petrol."
