Blue Origin, the space exploration firm founded by Amazon boss Jeff Bezos, has successfully tested its latest passenger capsule for the first time.
Called Crew Capsule 2.0, it features space for six astronauts as well as its trademark large windows so travellers to space are able to marvel at the view around them.
The capsule was mounted onto Blue Origin’s New Shepard booster rocket – itself being tested for the seventh time.
The long-term goal of the Crew Capsule is to take groups of passengers into space, flying above Earth briefly and admiring the view, before descending back to the ground.
While this is happening, the New Shepard rocket will also return to the surface and perform a vertical landing as part of its function as a reusable rocket.
The test took place at the company’s launch site in West Texas, with Bezos in attendance to see the new capsule’s first flight.
