Plans have been launched to convert a former furniture shop in Wednesbury into four one-bedroom apartments.

The ground-floor premises, on Lower High Street, are being earmarked for the new homes.

The site used to be a shop called Furniture Right.

It follows successful plans last year to convert the first floor, of the same building, into five one-bedroom flats.

Planners want to retain the shop frontage appearance but alter the window positions slightly.

A council report said: "Following the grant of planning permission to change the upper floor to residential this is an application for residential use on the ground floor as use of the building for retail is no longer viable."

Sandwell Council's planning committee will make a decision on the plans at a later date.
