Richard Scott, chairman of LABC presented the award to Mr Owen after beating six rivals from the West Midlands.

Mr Scott described the building as a one-off design, occupying a prime spot on the approach to Bridgnorth which will be seen by the many thousands of visitors to the nearby Severn Valley Railway station.

In nominating the building, building control surveyor Alastair Dunning said: “This was an immaculate piece of building and enjoys a high level of compliance.”

Clive Gwilt, also from building control added that Mr Owen is a "conscientious and steadfast builder, he deserves the award”.

Mr Owen's dream home occupied by his parents will now proceed to be judged at the grand finals to be held in Westminster in November where it will compete with similar projects from all corners of the UK.
