Mike Wood, Conservative MP for Kingswinford and South Staffordshire, said he disagreed with MPs who said the bil was stronger now than it was last time MPs voted in November.
At that time, MPs voted to support Kim Leadbeater's bill by 330 votes to 275.
Mr Wood said he supported the principle of assisted dying, but was not convinced that the bill had adequate safeguard, and would be voting against it.
"I'm terrified that someone I love might choose to accelerate their death," he said.
