The Stourbridge MP has been appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to Liz Truss, the Secretary of State for International Trade and Minister for Women and Equalities.

The role involves assisting the department's business in Parliament, managing and developing legislation and assisting with trade deals.

Mrs Webb, who was elected as the town's MP in December, said: "I am absolutely thrilled and delighted to be offered this role. Having worked in the global supply chain prior to becoming an MP, I feel very honoured to have been asked to join the team at the Department for International Trade.

"I hope my experience outside Parliament will help the department as it negotiates new trade deals around the world.

"There are enormous trade opportunities ahead and the Government is already engaged in negotiations with the EU, the United States and other major economies around the world. I am very much looking forward to getting started in the new role and I will do my utmost to promote the interests of Stourbridge as I do so."
