Eddie Hughes showed off his Black Country pride in Westminster by flying the two flags that represent his constituency.

The Walsall North MP posed for a picture outside the Houses of Parliament featuring him holding the Willenhall flag.

And in the interests of balance he also had a shot taken with the Bloxwich flag, which was launched in June following a competition.

Mr Hughes, who was elected as the Conservative MP for Walsall North in the June General Election, said the flags were a real focus of identity for people in his constituency.

"Let's be honest, Walsall North doesn't really mean a great deal other than the fact that it is the constituency name," he said.

"But the people of Willenhall and Bloxwich are extremely proud of their towns - and rightly so.

"I want to do as much as possible to help promote both areas. The Willenhall flag has been such a success. It is a real symbol of the community and I'm sure the Bloxwich flag will be just as popular."

The Bloxwich flag was designed by Julie Hikins who won a competition following a public vote with entries from across the town.

The competition had been organised by resident Martin Morris with the help of Bloxwich West councillors Louise Harrison, Matt Follows and Brad Allen.

The Willenhall flag was designed by Adam Leonard and was launched in 2014. It features padlocks and keys reflecting the town's role in the lock manufacturing industry, and can be seen on a daily basis flying on top of Willenhall library.
