The Labour MP for Wolverhampton North East said she is likely to take some time off from her parliamentary duties prior to the birth in April next year.

Ms Reynolds, who married solicitor Richard Stevens earlier this year, said: "We are both delighted to be expecting our first baby.

"Everything is going well so far and I feel fine. It is all very new and we are happy to be getting plenty of advice from family and friends."

Ms Reynolds added that she plans to have her baby at Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital.

She has recently been elected to the Brexit select committee that will hold the government to account as Britain moves out of the EU.

As a result of her new post she has stood down from her role on the health select committee.
