Cascades of poppies placed on churches in Dudley and Kidderminster to mark Remembrance
Two churches in Dudley and Kidderminster are among a group within the Diocese of Worcester to be decorated with a striking poppy display for Remembrance.
Holy Innocents’ Church in Kidderminster and St Peter’s Church in Cradley are among 11 churches across the diocese, which covers Dudley and Sandwell, as well as parts of Wyre Forest, in being decorated by the knitted and crocheted poppies for Remembrance Day.
The displays of knitted and crocheted poppies will be seen stretching down the tower or from the roof of each church.
Volunteers have been knitting and crocheting the poppies over many months, which are then brought together to create an eye-catching display in the church and there have been many community groups and friends of the churches involved in producing the displays.
At Holy Innocents’ Church in Kidderminster, the poppy display is inside the church, reaching from the organ loft balcony to the floor of the church.
Team Vicar, Laura Betson said: “So many people have worked together to create this beautiful display.
"Poppies have been made by church members, the families of those who attend our toddler service, those who come to our coffee mornings, and friends and family too.
"It’s a beautiful display and focuses our attention on Remembrance Sunday as we remember all those who gave their lives in the service of their country.”
The poppies can viewed on Saturday, November 8 and Tuesday, November 11 from 10am to 4pm.

At St Peter’s Church in Cradley, near Halesowen, the Poppy Cascade was added to the tower on Sunday and will remain in place until Sunday, November 16 if the weather is kind.
The church will be open for visitors to see the cascade and displays inside from Monday, November 10 until Thursday, November 13 from 10am until 2pm.
