Many Triumph models are affected by the recall

A recall has been made for certain Triumph motorcycles, which highlights a fault that could damage their wiring.

Affecting certain Triumph Street and Bonneville models, the recall states that ‘the clutch cable can contact and potentially damage the wiring within the main harness’.

Certain Street Scrambler, Street Twin, Street Twin A2 Licence Version, Street Cup, Bonneville T100, Bonneville T100 Black, Bonneville T100 Black, Bonneville T120 and Bonneville T120 Black models are also affected.

The issue was highlighted by the Federation of European Motorcyclists’ Associations, and stated that the defect could mean that the ‘headlight or indicator lighting may malfunction or engine power could be lost without warning, increasing the risk of an accident.’

According to Triumph, 68,686 motorcycles are affected globally.

The bike manufacturer says that it has written to all registered owners, and asked them to contact their local dealership. All dealers have been notified of the issue, too.

The brand also stated that ‘affected motorcycles should be taken to an approved Triumph dealership as soon as possible for new parts to be fitted. The work will be carried out free of charge.’
