All-electric Ducati motorcycle could be close to production
Italian motorcycle manufacturer is pushing towards the electrification of its vehicles
Ducati could be nearing the introduction of its first all-electric motorcycle, according to new reports.
With many other manufacturers producing their own electric motorcycles, Ducati had, up to now, been limited in its plans to move towards the electrification of its vehicles.
However, Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali, speaking during podium celebrations of the Motostudent racing event last weekend at the Aragon racetrack in Spain, said: “The future is electric and we’re not far from beginning production of the series”, according to Corsa dI Moto.
Though Domenicali failed to elaborate on his statement, it does show a clear sign of intent for the company to produce an electric motorcycle.
Several top manufacturers have already released their own electric motorcycles, with companies such as Vespa and Harley-Davidson bringing their own plug-in bikes to market.
BMW has also showcased a series of electric concept scooters, including the C Evolution and Concept Link, while Arc unveiled its Vector – a fully electric motorcycle which includes a helmet with built-in heads-up display and a jacket which can warn you of potential collisions.
