Car held together with bandages caught travelling down motorway

Leicestershire Road Policing Unit shares images of car with bonnet fixed down by bandages

A motorist was pulled over on the M1 after police spotted them driving a car held together with bandages.

Leicestershire Road Policing Unit posted a tweet showing images of the car patched up using the dressing normally tied around injuries. It’s clear to see the bonnet is held down with bandages, while the tweet also suggests they had been used to keep a headlight in place.

Worse still, there was a battery booster under the bonnet – something normally only used when jump-starting a vehicle.

The unidentified car was pulled over while travelling southbound on the M1 near junction 23. Officers issued the driver with a vehicle prohibition, with the car deemed unroadworthy.

It’s not clear how long the bandages had been fixed to the vehicle. However, a cracked windscreen would suggest they had been used after the bonnet lifted up and hit the glass.

The tweet said: “This car was stopped the other night. The bonnet is held down by bandages, as is one of the head light [sic]! The windscreeen [sic] is cracked from the bonnet flipping up and to top it all they had a battery booster under the bonnet while driving down the motorway!! Prohibited!!”
