Harry's concept has been used to inspire future designers

A six-year-old’s car design has been used to build an exciting prototype in a bid to inspire a whole new generation of motorsport fans.

Harry Ingram’s sketch was brought to life by construction and engineering company Stage One, with the whole project taking three months to complete.

The car was put together using a combination of modern and traditional construction methods. Twenty-five per cent of the project was completed with robotic machinery, while the remaining 75 per cent was done by hand.

The prototype vehicle features a variety of innovative new features specified by Harry, including wings that can turn into gliders and a hose that can suck water up to help fight fire.

Harry spoke of his design recently, saying: “I love Lamborghinis and Porsches, but I’m really pleased with my own design. My favourite part is the wings because I think in the future it would be good if cars could fly. I think my car should sell for about £6,000 because I’d like it to be available to everybody and I want to help people. I’m already working on my next design – a rocket ambulance.”

The ‘concept car of the future’ was presented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend, having been created in partnership with Mastercard. The car is ‘powered by sucking in bad air’ to help reduce pollution, while it features a raft of sensors to stop it from crashing. It’s also the first car to feature a contactless dashboard.

Nick Paton, new business development manager at Stage One, said: “We’re delighted to be involved in this wonderful project with such a young designer and a global audience. Every project we work on is unique and unlike the previous one and this is no different
