Though the weather forecast might not be spectacular, the British public will doubtless be making the most of the bank holiday weekend.

But if picnics don’t quite tickle your fancy, fear not – there’s plenty going on over the 26th, 27th and 28th to satisfy even the most dedicated petrolhead.

Here are a few we’re really looking forward to…

FIA World Rallycross of Great Britain (25-27 May)

(PA)

If you’ve never been to a rallycross event, you should absolutely make a trip. It’s a high-action form of motorsport, with a number of short, eventful races taking place right throughout the weekend.

There’s plenty of off-track action happening too, with a live stage featuring the likes of Lethal Bizzle, Dizzie Rascal and Razorlight while tons of other fun can be found in the paddock. Tickets are available online from £35 for the event, which takes place from 25-27 May.

Prescott Hill Climb La Vie en Bleu (26-27 May)

(PA)

It gives car enthusiasts the chance to get really up close and personal with these cars, either in the paddock before or on the hill climb itself. Static displays from car clubs also feature, along with live music and entertainment.

The event lasts all of Saturday and Sunday, with tickets available in advance on the Prescott Hill Climb website or on the gate.

Yorkshire Classic Vehicle Show (28 May)

(PA)

This huge event, now in its 33rd year, packs out Ripley Castle’s deer park, where car club stands will be in attendance. An ever-popular Land Rover display also takes place.

Ticket prices include entrance to the castle gardens, grounds and park, with tours of the house available at extra charge. Visit www.markwoodwardclassicevents.com for more info.

Formula One Monaco Grand Prix (26-27 May)

(PA)

This weekend, it’s the Monaco Grand Prix — famous for its tight technical circuit that separates the good drivers from the incredible ones amongst a glamorous backdrop. Brit favourite Lewis Hamilton begins the weekend with a 17-point lead in the championship — but anything can happen around the streets of Monte Carlo.

The race starts at 14:10 on May 27, broadcast on Sky Sports F1 and Channel 4.
