Citroen has taken the covers off its all-new Europe-specific C5 Aircross SUV.

The latest addition to the French manufacturer’s line-up has been designed to be as comfortable as possible, thanks to the combination of an advanced suspension set-up and upgraded seats.

It comes following the Chinese-spec model’s debut at the Shanghai Motor Show.

Set for a full European launch at the end of the year, the Aircross has been created with flexibility in mind. As such, it features three individually sliding, folding and reclining rear seats, offering buyers the ability to change the layout of the cabin depending on their specific need.

Two petrol versions are available from launch: a 128bhp Puretech engine linked to a six-speed manual, and a more powerful 178bhp with an eight-speed automatic.

There are three diesel engines available too. The first is a 128bhp unit with a six-speed manual, followed by the same engine but linked to an automatic ’box. The range is topped off by a 178bhp oil burner driven through an automatic gearbox.

A plug-in hybrid powertrain will also join the line-up but towards the end of 2019, said Citroen.
