Brabham Automotive has released more details of its upcoming first car, along with a first look at the rear of the vehicle.

The Brabham BT62 will be powered by an in-house 5.4-litre, naturally aspirated V8 engine that will give the 972kg car a power-to-weight ratio of 720bhp-per-tonne. Helping to keep all of this power to the ground will be a claimed 1,200kg of downforce.

To slow the supercar down, six-piston carbon brakes feature on all four corners – a technology created by the Brabham F1 team in 1976.

Alongside these new details, a teaser image released shows the car will sport thin LED taillights along with a large rear wing. It’s not the first glimpse of the car given – with the firm previously releasing a video where the BT62 can be briefly seen taking to the track – although it is the clearest look yet.

The Brabham name was officially announced to be returning to the motoring world in February this year. The new company is led by Le Mans winner David Brabham, who is also the son of three-time Formula One world champion Jack Brabham.

Just 70 examples of the upcoming BT62 will be produced – celebrating 70 years since Jack Brabham began racing – and the car will retail for £1,000,000 before local taxes and any additional options. Order books are now open, with first deliveries planned for later in 2018. The car will make its full public debut on May 4.
