McLaren has shown its vision for the future with the Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo concept, designed exclusively for the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport video game.

Though not likely to spawn any production vehicle, the concept “showcases the kind of car that McLaren could produce beyond 2030”.

Players who pick the car within the game will be able to choose from one of three liveries: Performance, Ulterior and Noir.

Thanks to its use of lightweight carbon-fibre, the Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo concept weighs just 1,000kg, while a powerful 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 linked to electric motors in the front wheels produces over 1,100bhp and 1,275Nm of torque.

Rob Melville, design director at McLaren Automotive, said: “We wanted to break new ground and to innovate and the McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo does exactly that. It puts the driver absolutely at the centre of the action, delivering a sensory overload with incredible sound and awe-inspiring acceleration.

“The design form communicates exactly what the car’s mission is and what its intentions are: it’s the ultimate expression of the McLaren design pillars and principles we have already established, futured into the 2030s.”

Gran Turismo Sport is due to arrive in October, and will allow players to choose from a variety of other McLaren cars, including the 650S Coupe and 650S GT3.
