Rolls-Royce Ghost given blues and twos makeover for Sussex Police open day
Luxury car was given lights and a new livery for Chichester police
This Rolls-Royce Ghost has been given a law enforcement makeover in support of a local police force.
Arguably the most luxurious car to ever wear the iconic ‘Battenberg’ livery, it was designed for display at the Chichester Police Station open day last weekend. The car was supplied by the factory, which has its base in Goodwood on the outskirts of the West Sussex city.
Although it’s unlikely many motorists would miss the imposing motor approaching rapidly in their rear-view mirror, Rolls-Royce fitted a light bar to the Ghost’s roof to make sure drivers know to move to the side.
Criminals excited at the prospect of being placed in the back of the Ghost for a trip to the station might be disappointed that the vehicle is only for display and won’t be going out on the local beat.
The Rolls-Royce Ghost was announced at the 2009 Shanghai motor show as a more affordable alternative to the larger Phantom – though affordable is a relative term, as prices start in excess of £220,000.
Rolls-Royce moved its headquarters and factory to Goodwood in 2003 after the company was bought by BMW. It cost £65 million to build and was designed to blend into its surroundings, with a ‘living roof’ and thousands of plants placed around the perimeter, meaning the building cannot be seen from the road.
