"I went there shortly after the crash, there was a young lad. He had just got out of the car and a girl was there who was very distressed as well.

"There was another girl who was 6ft away from the car and another lying in the road.

"The girl in the road was conscious and talking," he said.

Councillor Claire Darke, who's Park ward covers Compton Road, added: "I hope they're all okay.

"It's difficult to comment on when you don't know exactly what happened, it's a very busy road.

"I wouldn't call Compton Road an accident blackspot, maybe it's a bit busier near the hospital and by the Chapel Ash junction."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "At around 10.35pm a car collided with a metal railing.

"A female, aged 17, had been ejected from the vehicle, and had a reduced level of consciousness.

"She had head and neck injuries.

"She was immobilised and taken to New Cross Hospital in an ambulance on blue lights.

"Another female was immobilised and taken to hospital as a precaution, while two more walking wounded were taken to be checked over.

"Two ambulances and one rapid response vehicle attended."

A police spokeswoman added: "Compton Road was closed between Paget Road and Richmond Road from 10.40pm and 1.30pm.

"Four people in their teens were taken to New Cross Hospital, the male driver and three females."
